Sub-Frames
Aluminium
We have chosen to invest in the development of aluminium decking frames largely due to its environmental credentials. Apart from being a sustainable material and 100% recyclable its also widely-available with in-excess of 60 million tonnes being produced every year.
Fireproof
One of the challenges we faced when looking at alternative materials was fire resistance. While the product had to be a sustainable alternative to timber, it was important that the materials had to have excellent fire-resistant credentials. This ruled out composite materials early on as they have poor if any fire ratings.
Aluminium subframes are completely fireproof. They also offer adjustable pedestals that cleverly integrate in the subframe profile for the domestic and commercial markets. Both are industry firsts.
Strong And Lightweight
Aluminium is both strong and lightweight meeting British standards BS6399 structural load testing.
Impervious And Rust Free
Aluminium is impervious to moisture, insect and fungal attack that other materials suffer from which greatly reduces their lifespan. It is rot proof and rust resistant which is great news when fitted in a British country garden or on the coast where it will be exposed to the harshest weathering conditions day after day, year after year.
The versatility of Liniar's aluminium sub-frame is such that when it's fixed together in landscape orientation, it is just 25mm high. This means it can be used in most stand-alone decking areas, so it's perfect for garden decking areas. All sub-frame heights can be raised or lowered using adjustable feet.
Stainless steel
With a choice of standard galvanised steel sub-frame, designed for caravans and lodges, or low aluminium sub-frame designed for garden or domestic use, Liniar has a maintenance-free sub-frame to suit every decking project
Liniar’s choice of galvanised steel or aluminium sub-frames create the ideal aintenance-free base on which to build your uPVC composite deck.
The Liniar sub-frame has been successfully load tested to 500kg/m². Even treated timber, sitting in wet conditions, will soak up moisture from the ground beneath it, as well as from the deck itself.
Timber
Timber has been used in the construction of decks for a long time whilst in the building industry it has used it for a great deal longer and for good reason. Wood is the only truly sustainable material on earth and we can grow as much timber as we need from well-managed forests.
So timber, being relatively newly-grown and then returned directly to nature, is in effect ‘carbon neutral’. In addition, using local timber suppliers dramatically reduces the miles to market, therefore reducing further environmental impact.
Softwoods are the most frequently-used timbers for construction. In order to comply with the building regulations they must always be strength graded and put into a ‘Strength Class’. In the UK, softwoods are graded visually, in accordance with BS 4978:2007, or by machine to EN 14081:2005.
All supplied timbers have been machine graded to achieve a minimum of C16 Strength Class and the timber is stamped accordingly.
An independent body audits and checks the strength grading machine to ensure that the C16 strength graded timber we use complies with current legislation and guidelines.
Composite
composite joists and support beams are an ideal alternative to timber as they’re weather resistant, hard wearing and will not rot, splinter or warp.
They come in two styles – Low Profile Support Beams and deeper profile Supastiff Joists, ensuring that you have the right substructure no matter where your deck is being installed.
